The underlying chemical and material principles of corrosion science are well known. The challenges arise when these have to be applied in the 鈥榬eal world鈥�. Particularly challenging are offshore, remote, deep sea oil and gas installations where maintenance and replacement are extremely difficult and hazardous. A range of speakers will explain how corrosion science informs how materials are selected and inspected in order to perform safely over many years in these hostile environments.
