Introduction

The meeting will be held in Room 110 in the Ingram Building, at the University of Kent at Canterbury, CT7 2NZ and will start at 1830 with drinks. There will be a presentation at 1900 by Dr Stuart Jones of Laserchrom HPLC Laboratories Ltd. entitled 'Is a recession a good time to set up a science business?' Stuart worked for Whatman at Maidstone for 2 years before starting Laserchrom in 1986. He has some ideas for potential new businesses, some experiences to share for those considering starting a business now, and a guide to making a new company succeed, even during a deep recession (for more details on Stuart's company see www.hplccourses.com). The talk will be followed at 1945 by a 'finger buffet' and refreshments with the evening finishing around 2130
