National Conference for Science Technicians 2026

2 September 2026 10:00-17:00, Bristol, United Kingdom

Introduction
The National Conference for Science Technicians (NCST) celebrates technical staff and their vital contribution to the sciences, as well as the Technician Commitment.

This hybrid conference will bring together people who work across all branches of the chemical sciences.

This year, the theme is career development and we will cover career development skills and frameworks relevant to technical staff, for both the individual technician and recognising the technical community as a whole.

This conference will bring together people who work across all branches of the scientific sectors, giving technicians an opportunity to share their work and experiences – particularly around increasing visibility of the technical workforce and how you can raise your own profile and that of the community. As well as networking opportunities and a chance to hear from inspirational technicians, the programme will include:
  • a mini training session on career development for technicians from HEaTED, the leading organisation for Higher Education and Technician Educational Development
  • information on the RSC’s latest report on disability in the workplace, applications for technicians and how to make workplaces more accessible
  • plus, RSC members can access one-on-one careers consultations on the day with a member of the careers team
The conference is free to attend in-person and online, and is open to apprentices, technicians and technical managers working in the chemical sciences. You don’t have to be a member of the RSC to attend.

If there are other colleagues from your organisation attending, we suggest nominating one or two technicians, meaning as many institutions can be represented as possible.

There will be travel bursaries available to provide up to £200 for any delegates based in the UK to attend the conference. Applications for the travel bursary will open with event registration in June.
