Top tips for preparing your #RSCPoster
- Keep it simple: Make your poster appeal to a general audience by making the science understandable by non-experts. Avoid using lots of text and instead summarise the main aspects of the work through graphics and figures.
- Make it eye-catching: #RSCPoster is a chance to let your creativity shine. Why not make your poster into a cartoon strip, an infographic or even animated?
- Be attentive to font size and format: Make sure posters can be read on digital devices by ensuring a larger font size, less text and stand-out graphics. Posters should allow high-resolution zoomability if required and we encourage avoiding taking photos of posters and uploading these.

Presenting your #RSCPosterPitch
Traditional conferences usually offer the opportunity to talk through your work with judges, explaining its importance and showing why it鈥檚 exciting. At a virtual poster conference, there is no face-to-face interaction 鈥 and making yourself and your work stand out can be tricky. With this in mind, we wanted to provide a more immersive virtual experience with our LinkedIn conference.
We鈥檙e encouraging all our poster presenters to upload a 1鈥2 minute video pitch highlighting the importance of the research behind their poster 鈥 just like you would at a physical conference. Creativity is encouraged; for example, we welcome songs, animations, and any other presentation style you can think of. All that matters is that your passion for your poster shines through.
Explore top tips for preparing your #RSCPosterPitch:
- Short 1鈥2 minute video to accompany a poster
- Highlights the importance of the work
- The actual content of the video can take any form 鈥 creativity is encouraged
- Fancy cameras are not needed 鈥 just make sure the sound quality is good enough for listeners to hear
- These are not replacements for video posters, so feel free to enter a video poster with or without an accompanying pitch
- Add your #RSCPosterPitch video as a new post on LinkedIn with the #RSCPosterPitch hashtag and link to your #RSCPoster post
- Use YouTube's auto-generated captions and edit them directly in YouTube Studio after the video has been processed to make your video even more accessible
Making the most of the event
- Posters should be posted during the event from 12.00 noon (UTC) on 4 March 2025. Any posters posted before or after the event has ended on 12.00 noon (UTC) on 5 March 2025 will not be considered for a prize. Check your timezones (below) to make sure you do not miss out.
- For searchability, ensure you have correctly tagged the subject category showcase pages in your #RSCPoster post. We recommend using the 鈥楡鈥 symbol rather than 鈥#鈥 when tagging i.e. to tag the Materials #RSCMat page type @RSCMat until the showcase page is suggested in the link.

- If you want to post a #RSCPosterPitch, we encourage you to create a new post for your video, use the hashtag #RSCPosterPitch and link to your #RSCPoster post.
- Engage with posters from all subject categories by asking questions and answering questions on your poster to keep discussions going through the 24-hour event.

#RSCPosterPitch is a 60 second video presentation to accompany your main #RSCPoster, just like you may stand next to your poster at a physical conference and give a quick overview. The amount of description on a poster is limited; giving a quick video overview allows you the chance to expand on why your research is interesting and explain this further. This can be done in any style, any language (although note that the Subject Chairs will be judging in English, so you might want to give an English version if possible) from a regular speech to a special song, just so long as it鈥檚 not more than 60 seconds.
#RSCPosterPitch is optional, so you don鈥檛 have to submit a pitch for your poster to be eligible for prizes. Find out more about #RSCPosterPitch here.
