David Díaz Díaz

Biography

David received his Ph.D. in ¾ÅÖÝÓ°Ôº in 2002 from the University of La Laguna (ULL). He then joined Prof. Finn’s group at The Scripps Research Institute (San Diego, USA) as Research Associate. Since 2006, he has held several positions in academia and industry:

  • Ramón y Cajal researcher, Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain (2006)
  • Sr. Chemist, The Dow Chemical Company, Switzerland (2007)
  • Tenured Scientist, The Spanish & National Research Council, Spain (2009)
  • Alexander von Humboldt Experienced Researcher, University of Regensburg, Germany (2010)
  • DFG Heisenberg Professor, University of Regensburg, Germany (2013)
  • Privatdozent, University of Regensburg, Germany, (since 2018)

In 2020, he was appointed as Distinguished Researcher (Beatriz Galindo Senior) at ULL, and in 2023 as Full Professor. His main research interest focuses on the development of new functional soft materials for biomedical, environmental, catalytic, sensing, adhesive and energy applications. He is the recipient of the 2024 Institutional Research Award of the University of La Laguna, the 2021 Research Excellence Award from The Spanish ¾ÅÖÝÓ°Ôº (RSEQ) and the 2014 Young Researcher Award from the Polymer Networks Group (PNG), among others.
