Over forty years’ experience in the protective coatings industry. Principally involved in the evaluation of marine paint coatings, their modes and mechanisms of failure, cause and extent of breakdown and recommendations for their remedial treatment.
Numerous involvements as Expert Witness in High Court, Arbitration and Mediation on the subject of paint coatings.
Advisor to P & I Clubs and Solicitors on the subject of paint coatings, two appointments as sole arbitrator in paint disputes, one appointment as LMAA Arbitrator and chairman of a panel of paint experts dealing with a major paint failure.
Worldwide experience on behalf of shipowners, paint manufacturers, shipyards, P & I Clubs, Solicitors, painting contractors and consulting engineers. Expertise of all types of coating systems specialising in ships (cargo tanks, ballast tanks, cargo holds, outside shell, superstructure) to determine mode and cause of breakdown, estimation of expected performance life, effectiveness of antifouling systems, methods and type of remedial treatment and evaluation of specifications for new buildings and M & R.
