Yue Zhang

Biography

Prof. Yue Zhang obtained his Ph.D. degree in Metal Physics from the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) in 1993. He then became an Anthony Mason Fellowship visiting professor at the University of New South Wales in Australia (2000), a JSPS visiting professor at Tohoku University in Japan (2001) as well as a senior visiting scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the USA (2002-2003).

He was elected as the academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 2019 and 2022, respectively. Prof. Yue Zhang currently serves as the director of the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and Materials, and dean of the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Science and Technology at USTB.

Aimed at major requirements for sustainable social development, Prof. Zhang has devoted his research life to the full-chain investigation of semiconductor nanomaterials throughout synthesis, characterization, functionalization, and service, advancing their applications in energy and information fields including two-dimensional electronic devices, energy conversion and storage devices, as well as information sensing systems.
