This 1-day course is Day 4 of the Complete Hands-on GC & GC-MS. Incorporating 50% theory and 50% practical in a lab environment within a small group size, you will gain both knowledge and hands-on experience of GC-MS together.
This course and focuses on the maintenance of the mass spectrometer. We identify consumables and parts requiring maintenance for the GC and the MS and explain the impact they have on each other. Building on your existing knowledge of the MS components, you will learn various procedures for maintaining the operation of the system such as tuning, leak testing, oil & filter changing, filament replacement and ion source cleaning. You will then perform the maintenance procedures on a live GC-MS system and bring the system back into operation.
At the end of the course you will know how to recognise when MS maintenance is required and maintain the instrument to preserve its performance, reducing down-time of the system.
This 1-day course can be combined with any of the other 1-day courses from the 5-day Hands-on Complete GC & GC-MS course.
