About this prize
The Wheeler Bequest Award is used to fund a Wheeler Lecture. The Wheeler Lecture celebrates the outstanding contributions of an individual to the history of chemistry.
The person honoured may be alive or deceased; it is a memorial lecture in the broadest sense. The Lecturer is an eminent historian or chemist.
The Wheeler Lecture is given as part of a normal meeting of the Historical Group of the RSC, and published as an Occasional paper which is distributed free to members with the Newsletter. The Lecture is given approximately every two years.
